Kelly has some Broccoli plants that are ready to plant and will have some Cauliflower plants available within a week or so.   While it's still to early to plant some veggies, Brocolli and Cauliflower can be planted now.  Contact Kelly if you'd like any of these plants!  She is asking twenty-five cents per plant -a great deal for these early veggie favorites!

They are great right out of the garden.  Dip uncooked pieces in Ranch dressing for a healthy snack.  You can also steam Broccoli and Cauliflower together as a side dish at dinner.  Add a pat of butter, salt, and pepper!  Make a sauce with Velveeta or Cheddar cheese and even the kids will like Broccoli and Cauliflower!

Contact Kelly if you'd like these starter plants for your plot!

Thanks Rene!  Most of those pre-built recycle bins are small for our needs.  They are meant for  a single household's compost needs.  We already have a large pile of material that's composting from last year and this spring!  That's why I think we'll need a larger enclosure with just fencing and posts.  Anyone else have any thoughts?

We have beets, radishes, lettuce, garlic, peas, kale, and some herbs growing at the garden.  There's also onions, potatoes, carrots, turnips and parsnips planted but they aren't up yet!  All of these are cool weather crops and don't mind the cool temps!

Hopefully we'll get the water barrel filled next week so the seeds we've planted can be kept mosit.  I spoke to Rain Bros about that this week.

John-finally got all the totals for the compose bin.The fencing will run about 35.00 for a good quality fencing-one that will not be torn down easily. the rails will cost about 30.00 (rough) depending what or how many you need. I went on line to see what the cost of a pre-made compose bin would be-they range between the cost of 69.00 and 99.00 which would be my suggestion, since it will be there for a while.(The one that costs 99.00 has three bins) The bin can easily be anchoraged into the ground, also. You decide and let me know OK

We're at 29-31 N Wheatland Ave.  It's right across from the parking lot for the Columbus public health building.

Thanks John - I'm not sure if I got my former messages out there correctly - but I would like to stop by and check out the site. Can you tell me where exactly it is? I'm relatively new to the neighborhood and have not done much exploring yet, Thanks again!

Welcome to the garden group Janet!  We have plots available if you'd like one this year.  Stop by the garden and check out some of the cool weather crops. Lettuce, peas, collards, and garlic are up and growing and several others are planted and will be making an appearance soon!

The city supplied the waterr barrel for our garden and several other gardens.  It includes a solar powered pump and some hose.  Rain Brothers is holding on to those items for us until spring.  Rain Brothers will also fill it for us the first time.

Rain Barrel for the Garden

We already talked to Brenda and Bobby next door and they are willing to let us hook up to their downspout if we want.  I also heard the fire dept might be filling them.  I haven't heard anymore about how we'll be filling it from the city.

I'm glad to hear you and Jack will be back at the garden this year!  We'll save the same spot for you and you should be able to get the plot next to it also.

hey John!!! jack had an idea about the rain barrel--see if the next door neighbor would allow us to get an extension from their gutter to fill the barrel!! Also i would like to get the same location for our plot and maybe the one next to it to plant more veggies!!Let me know okay! Rene
