It was decided at the last annual HWNA Meeting by the members present that we would begin to have membership dues. This was done for a number of reasons: (1) to give people more of an ownership stake in the association/neighborhood (2) to have a base amount in the treasury to build upon and to cover necessary operational costs i.e. postage, printing supplies, paper, etc. (3) many grants we apply for require that we have a treasury and need to show we have at least 25% of whatever we need already on hand. During the past year we have basically floated from month to month on whatever we could raise through bake sales. Most donations we received were ear marked for specific things, so the amounts could not be used for general expenditures. This will help put our organization on more of a solid footing and will ensure that it will be around for years to come. The vote on this issue was unanimously in favor. The amount set at the members meeting was $10.00 per household, so $10 will cover everyone under your roof ... so it's a real deal. We would like dues to be paid, if possible, before the end of March. These may be paid at any HWNA function directly to Sharry Carey our treasurer, you may put them in an envelope and send them to Highland West Neighbors Association, P.O. Box 44106, Columbus, OH 43204, or you may pay with credit or debit card ONLINE (!) using the "Donate" button in the upper left hand of the main web page. Thanks for all your support and cooperation.
