"I think we tend to over complicate things.  If there was one central signup point to give out badges, wristbands, etc then individual homeowners could open up and admit people for the tour.  A simple map would do, bake cookies, coffee etc…"

Highland West Home and/or Garden Tour?

The yard sale based on the OTE event reminded me of the popular OTE Tour of Homes and Franklinton has also gotten in on the home tour action, so if there is interest in that it would certainly be the best way to get an inside look of the neighborhood and provide a chance to see the best homes to give some inspiration to prospective homeowners. Both tours have a way of identifying official tour goers (wrist bands, for…See More

"So as far as service out west there are no planned changes. COTA has been looking at lines to remove stops and increase the speed from the start to finish of each route, but routes way up north around 270 were prioritized first before the most…"

"There is no need to reduce stops. It is simple if people are not waiting at that stop that stop is not made. For many people that have trouble walking removing a stop will increase the distance they might need to walk. Also you would require the…"

Suggest improvements for the #10 *tomorrow* 12PM 2/8 @ COTA's office - 33 N High

The #10 is one of COTA's top three routes and provides access from Downtown to Highland West, but like other lines it could use improvements in ease of payment methods (prepaid cards or prepaid sets of five or ten tickets) and faster access between the two areas. If no one from the HWNA is available I can speak on the neighborhood's behalf if desired to simply remove bus stops that are too close to each other (one or two blocks from the next one) along with those that are simply too sub-par to…See More

Higland West postcards/brochures

I've tried my hand at making a HW postcard to distribute throughout High St to raise awareness of the area, but they come off looking amateur, even with the nice logo. Maybe having them printed on glossy blank postcards would help, but I'm not sure. If there are any final copies I'm more than willing to get those out there in the coming months. Mentioning things like the upcoming community garden (with nice, sunny summer pics of the former garden) along with homes in the woodsy park area in a…See More

KeithM commented on Geoffrey Phillips's blog post Bike Lane Concerns

KeithM replied to Andrew Hulvey's discussion Highland West version of Downtown SID?

2005-2009 Census Proves Once Again the Hilltop's Spending Power: Everyone Needs to Know This!

This is certainly something worth getting out there to attract small business to W Broad (or Sullivant) and would make a great addition to a little fact sheet on the area to get them interested. The percentage of households making $50,000-74,999 or more in the census tracts which more or less fall inside of Highland West's borders is 26-33%.
